G.O.A.T as a concept embodies the athletic ethos: spirit, Hustle, optimism, promise, grit, and just plain hard work. Though the "Great Chase" reflects surpassing a number, Ovechkin with 895 goals surpassing Gretzky's total of 894, The base of this iceberg is built on tens of thousands of practiced shots off the ice and in the come-up. That’s the unseen greatness or Gr8ness that makes you great. It’s what we can see.
The artwork communicates energy and connectivity to DC's Adams Morgan. Colors and vectors are borrowed from Capitals, past, present, and future. The Motion and directionality of the piece communicate the intensity of the game and Journey.
